Christmastime

We kicked off the Christmas season last weekend with The Nutcracker on Saturday and a trip to the tree farm on Sunday.

Grace enjoyed the first half of the play, during the second half, however, she turned to me and whispered, "Mommy, this is boring."  I have to admit, I was a little bored by then, too.

As we have for the last three years, we met my parents to cut down our own tree.  This year, we all decided to buy from the pre-cut area.  Grace and Grandma had some fun looking, though.

Grace could not have been more excited to get home and decorate our tree.  It was torture for her to have to wait a whole day to hang ornaments.  When she finally got the chance, she was thrilled and did the majority of the work.

Every day, Grace has been asking if it's Christmas yet.  We are counting down with one very excited little girl!

Silly Goose

I ordered this giraffe set to use as a photo prop.  It's supposed to be a newborn size, but as you can see, Grace can wear it pretty comfortably (except for the backwards diaper cover creating a thong). She thought it was pretty funny...

Halloween 2012

Halloween was fun, but chilly this year.  I think next year I will encourage a warm and fuzzy costume rather than a tutu with tights.  Grace was a bit disappointed that she had to wear her coat over top of her Minnie Mouse/Kitty costume (she decided she wanted to be a cat as I was applying her Minnie Mouse makeup).

We spent Halloween with our friends, the Crellys, eating pizza beforehand and then trick-or-treating together.  The kids only lasted about an hour, but still got way too much candy.  Grace has long forgotten about her stash....unfortunately I have not.  Needless to say, all of the chocolate has been taken care of.

Field Trip

Grace had field trip #2 last Friday.  The first trip of the school year was to Dow Gardens, where the kids learned about seeds and got to pick and eat veggies from the childrens' garden.  This time we boarded the bus again, this time  to Baby Acres, a place we visit every year with Grace.  Fortunately it did not rain, but it was very cold with the wind.  As cute as the kids and the baby animals were, I could not wait to get back on the bus!

Grace was a bit more brave this year with the animals, although she was still not a fan of the large sheep and goats.  Most of her time was spent with Rocco, the little boy who sits across the table from her at school.  They are BFFs it seems and it's so cute.  They even sat together on the bus ride home (with Rocco's mom).
