Grace has been absorbing the world around her like a sponge; growing, changing, more and more each and every day that goes by. There are so many
little things she does everyday that I want to capture and hold onto, so as not to forget in the blur of life.
Lately, she has been our little echo, repeating everything we say (the good and the bad). After changing a poopy diaper at my parent's house, I said, "Darn it!" as I realized I had no diapers left in my bag. Grace promptly started running around and saying, "Darn it, Darn it!" Much to my dismay, she had to go "commando" during our drive home. Thankfully there were no surprises for me when I lifted her from her car seat.
Today, while we were playing with blocks, she said, "Good job, Grace!" when she stacked the blocks "
so tall" and they didn't fall over. Obviously, we've been giving her a healthy dose of praise for a job well done. (Maybe too healthy a dose. I'll have to read up on that...)
Earlier when I was upstairs with Grace, she turned to me and said, "I did a poopy!" I think this was the first time she's referred to herself in the first person.
Yesterday when we were going upstairs to take a nap, Grace turned around and said, "Night-night, video! See later!" (For the record, I am not a fan of educational videos, but at times they serve a purpose.)
This morning, like many mornings before, I awoke to Grace touching my face. She'd touch my nose and say "Mommy's nose." Then she'd touch her nose and say, "Grace's nose." She did this again and again with each facial feature, even our eyebrows.
Last night while in bed, Grace cried when I rolled onto my side, facing away from her. She asked me to "change sides" so I could face her while on my right side. I was a sucker and gave in. (Co-sleeping and adventures therein deserves a post all it's own.)
While giving Grace a bath tonight, she said, "Momma, out!" "You want to get out?" I asked, confused. I had just put her in only a few moments before. Then I realized, she wanted
me out (I usually sit on the side of the tub with my feet in the water). I was cramping her style.
Coming down the stairs a few days ago, Grace hurt her foot. We stopped mid-stair and I kissed it to make it "better." Then, out of the blue, Grace said, "I laa yoou!" What a great moment. I love you too, Grace.
A favorite as of late is to fill up the humidifier. Every time we go into the bedroom Grace excitedly says, "Idifire water!" Then she pulls the part out that holds the water, carries it to the bathroom and we fill it up in the bath tub.
Yesterday, Grace referred to my Dad as "Tall Grampa." Dave and I got quite a laugh out of this.
Then of course, there's her music....Grace's songs are the best. I love listening to the ones she's learned in class, but even better, I love the songs she creates on her own.
Needless to say, she keeps us quite entertained...
