West-Side Stories

Dave's Grandmother passed away on Christmas Eve.  This weekend was her memorial in Muskegon.  It was wonderful re-connecting with Dave's family on his dad's side, many of whom still live there.  "Granny Jean," as she was known, lived to be 97 years old.  It was amazing hearing the stories, looking through old photos, and celebrating her life.  I'm so glad she got to meet Grace last summer.  I know it meant a lot to her.

As far as trips go, we learned a few important lessons:  Communication is key; always drive separately, especially if you have a sleep-deprived toddler; and, if you're going to be near Lake Michigan, dress for the beach.  Oh, and never squeeze a wet pull-up.  An strange substance resembling snow-cone ice will erupt from it and plop on your foot.

Here's our trip at a glance...

Megan, Grace, and Eliana

 Dave and Uncle Joel

The ever elusive mom-and-daughter shot

Dave and his sister, Sara

Me and my girl

She got quite brave after a while

Love this face!

I learned another thing on this trip - we need to go to the west side more often.  It's beautiful...
